At Dalefield School, we:

  • Act in ways that respect and care for others, our environment, and all living things, making positive choices.
  • Uphold high expectations for behaviour and manners, showing kindness, responsibility, and respect in all that we do.
  • Stay within the designated school boundaries at all times to ensure everyone’s safety.

Communication

At Dalefield School, we use HERO for all school communication, including notices, updates, and student learning. To stay connected, make sure you’re signed up! If you need assistance with registration, please visit the office.

Medical and Accident Procedures

  • It is essential that the school has an alternative emergency contact number in case parents or caregivers cannot be reached.
  • Minor medical treatment will be provided by staff members with current First Aid certification.
  • In the event of an accident, parents will be contacted immediately, and the child will be kept comfortable until they arrive. If the accident is serious, an ambulance will be called immediately.
  • If your child has a medical condition, we require full details. A management plan will be created and kept on record, and we collaborate with health professionals to ensure appropriate support is in place.
  • If your child requires medication to be administered at school, parents must provide it in a childproof container, along with clear written instructions for dosage and administration.

Natural Disaster Procedures
In the event of a natural disaster, children will remain safely at school under staff supervision until appropriate arrangements are made for their safe return home.

Volunteers
Dalefield School welcomes volunteers! Whether you’d like to help in the classroom, with gardening, fundraising, or in any other way, we’d love your support. Please visit the office if you're interested—we’d be happy to chat!

Fundraising
We are fortunate to have a supportive community at Dalefield School that plays a vital role in our fundraising efforts. Whether it’s helping to organise events, donating goods or services, or lending a hand on the day, every contribution makes a difference. Together, we create opportunities that benefit our students and enhance their learning experiences.

Environmental
We take great pride in our environment at Dalefield School, especially our garden area, where children have the opportunity to grow and harvest fruit and vegetables. This hands-on experience fosters a connection to nature, sustainability, and healthy eating. If you're passionate about gardening and would like to help out, we’d love to have your support!

Parent Involvement
At Dalefield School, we operate an open-door policy and encourage parents to be involved in their child’s learning. We invite parents to make appointments with the classroom teacher to discuss progress or any school-related matters. We also welcome the support of parents and friends who wish to help in the classroom or share their skills and knowledge. All queries should be directed to the classroom teacher.

Lunches
Lunches are provided for all students at Dalefield School. We are a water-only school, so please ensure your child brings a drink bottle. We also encourage children to bring a healthy snack for morning tea to support energy and learning.

New Entrants
All new entrant children are invited to visit Dalefield School before starting, as we believe a smooth transition is essential. We work closely with ECE centres and encourage regular visits for four-year-olds to help them feel comfortable and confident. For more information, please contact the school.

Progress Reports
We focus on ongoing communication and goal-setting with parents and students. In Term 1, we set learning goals together. A mid-year report will be provided at the end of Term 2, followed by parent-teacher conferences in Term 3. An end-of-year report will be shared at the end of Term 4, summarising your child’s progress. All reports are available on HERO to keep you informed.

Swimming Pool
The school pool is available to the community outside of school hours during the summer. To access the pool, a key must be rented from the school before the end of the school year in December. Please note that children under 14 years of age must be supervised by an adult (18 years or older) when using the pool. Children and young people aged 14–17 may swim without adult supervision but are not permitted to supervise children 13 years or younger. We kindly ask that you reinforce this rule with your children.

Throughout the summer, children will swim most days as part of the curriculum, so please ensure they bring togs and towels. Swimming is an important learning activity, not just for fun.
