Kia ora te whānau,

A really warm welcome back to our school for the second term. It’s certainly amazing seeing the happy children engaged in their learning and enjoying the developing spaces outside.

New student

I warmly welcome Aria Farrier and Tyson Pirini-Leiataua to Dalefield School. I know you are both going to love it here.  Another new entrant will be starting next Thursday too, which is very exciting.

New staff member

I also welcome Natalie Chapman to the team. It’s great to have you on board Natalie and we are all enjoying our mahi with you.

Outside

We’re all certainly enjoying the new spaces as the main groundworks near completion..  Next week there will be two swings installed under two of the big trees which will be exciting.

The children are however still having great fun exploring and creating in our wonderful grounds.  From skating, sandpit creations, climbing the trees and exploring, our tamariki are really engaged at break times. Whilst we don’t yet have the equipment back in position, I assure you that our kids are loving their time outside in our paradise.

Welcome

It is absolutely fabulous seeing whānau in at school in the afternoons.  The new entrance is proving a hit and a great place to congregate.  The children are just loving it too with the long sloping concrete path and turf area.

Next week’s newsletter will be featuring some of the amazing learning underway in the classrooms (and further plans for the term) and the strategic and annual planning for the school which I know we all have a vested interest in.

Other notices

We ask that children don’t have phones at school please.  If a phone is needed, can it please be handed in to the class teacher till the end of the day.  Your assistance in this is appreciated.

Gumboots are a great idea at the moment with the grounds being worked on.

The exterior of the school is nearly fully fenced and the contractors have moved into the pool are.  The wall and fence on the school side are coming down and a new one matching the boundary fencing will be put in place.  The concrete wall on the far side of the pool is also coming down and will be replaced with a timber one matching that on the house/school boundary.  I want also to acknowledge Ross Percy whose farm backs onto Dalefield School.  Thank you Ross for making it so easy for the contractors to access the boundaries through your land - it is hugely appreciated.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
